Mentype® MycoDermQS

Mentype® MycoDermQS is a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) -based multiplex application for fast, reliable, easy to use and routine-fit diagnostics of dermatomycosis. From DNA isolation to diagnosis this multiplex PCR application gives raise to a one day workflow. The diagnostic test exceeds traditional procedures by performing highest quality identification of dermatophytes within     7 hours, consequently, providing up to 4 weeks gain in time.

Species- or genus-specific detection of 21 dermatophytes, yeasts and mould fungi

In accordance with clinical experts the most important pathogens eliciting dermatomycosis were chosen to be detectable with Mentype® MycoDermQS PCR Amplification Kit. This assay enables fast clarification of disease etiology and thus contributes to specific therapy selection. The latter is particularly important in light of growing resistance to antimycotics.

Technical details:

  • Ideal DNA concentration: 500 pg – 2 ng
  • Detection limit: 100 pg and better
  • Ratio pathogen DNA / human DNA: up to 1 : 3000 (at 100 pg fungal DNA)
  • Specificity was validated using human, and, commensal microbial DNA

In addition, Mentype® MycoDermQS contains an internal PCR amplification control (Quality Sensor “QS”) which provides precise information on the efficiency of the PCR and on the presence of PCR inhibitors.
